Although, I did not drink Yakult when I was a child as I don’t like the taste then. I even called it “Yucks-kult”.

But right after my gallbladder operation, I drank 2 Yakult bottles per day – one before eating breakfast and one after eating my dinner. I made this for about 3 weeks. Then after, I drank 1 bottle per day.

For the past 2 years I have been drinking Yakult but not on daily basis. And this year, being a person without gallbladder, it is now part of my daily drink – one bottle a day.

  1. I had my gallbladder removed 6 years ago and I still get pain where it was. Sometimes I’m doubled up in pain but after scans and xrays, the docs can find nothing wrong. If I drink Yakult I get terrible tummy cramps, I wonder why that is?

    • Hi, Jen…

Did your doctor suggests ERCP? My surgeon suggested this procedure when I got admitted for severe pain in my upper right abdomen and back after my surgery. He said that with ERCP he will be able to see the duct and the end portion where the gallbladder was removed. In this way he can remove any dislodged small gallstones if present, clean the duct, and widen the opening that connects the duct to the intestine.

For Yakult, are you lactose intolerance? Maybe you get an adverse reaction with skimmed milk that is present in Yakult.

  2. I always had constipation after my gall stone was removed, and is now one month after my operation. Please kindly give us tips to prevent constipation. Why I’m still constipated since I’m frequently eating papaya or grape fruits?
