No gallbladder and drinking rum – Tanduay Dark Rhum
According to Wikipedia:
Rum is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane by-products such as molasses, or, directly from sugarcane juice, by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak barrels.
Dark Rum, also known by the rum’s particular colour as brown rum, black rum, or red rum, classes as a grade darker than gold rum. It is generally aged longer, in heavily charred barrels. Dark rum has a much stronger flavor than either light or gold rum, and hints of spices can be detected, along with a strong molasses or caramel overtone. It is used to provide substance in rum drinks, as well as color.

reflects the hallmark of Tanduay’s rich and lively heritage. The ageing process of this extra special blend is extended for five long years. As a result, the aged rhum reveals a lush shade of mahogany and a lasting aroma of sweet nutty smoked flavor.
The Tanduay Five Years Dark Rhum is a popular rum in the Philippines. While it has some cocktail servings, most like to drink it with just ice and water.
When my friends (READ: Barkada) asked me if I drink Tanduay Rhum, one of them answered that I will not because I no longer have a gallbladder since my gallbladder was removed thru laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery.
Then the voice of the man that also underwent a gallbladder operation echoed in my mind. The man that I had a conversation in my surgeon’s clinic, he said to me that he will never ever drink beer and any alcoholic drinks. This was the same line that he told the doctor. And when I entered the surgeon’s room, he asked me if I will still drink beer and alcoholic drinks. And my answer was only a smile.
They then purchased one long-neck (750ml) of Tanduay Dark Rhum – 5 Years. First few rounds, I did not drink. Then I took my first shot – ice-cold rum with a Calamondin or Calamansi chaser.
Along with talks and laughter, we emptied 4 bottles of 750ml Tanduay rum.
Hours later as I anticipated an upset stomach, diarrhea, and gas pain, but there was none.
The next morning, I was expecting to have some stomach discomfort because of the rum that I drank. But still – none. My system has accepted the rum without adverse reaction just like drinking San Miguel Beer with no gallbladder.

Haha there is no such thing as “no gallbladder”. When ever you have the procedure to have your gallbladder “taken out”, they do take it out, but not completely bc you cannot live w/o one, there is a duct there connected to the remains of your gallbladder. When I was 9 and had the surgery I even now..like once in a while have gallbladder pain, it is relieved immediately after drinking water.
Rum is the only alcohol that makes my gallbladder spasm, and for you that had the pain prior to surgery know that it is the worst pain imaginable. The only think that helps is induced vomiting.

You’re kidding, right?
Cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. Meaning, the gallbladder is dissected away from the liver bed and removed from the body.
