Diarrhea attack and no gallbladder

I read once an article that chronic diarrhea will likely to hit more on person without gallbladder, those that undergo gallbladder surgery either by open cholecystectomy or lap chole (laparoscopic cholecystectomy).

And yes, it is true.

Right after I was discharged from the hospital, I experienced stomach pain and diarrhea almost every morning – after breakfast.

This year, gladly the diarrhea occurred less. I only had one diarrhea last jan. 7, 2010. The next day, it was a fine day – no diarrhea attack. I hoped and thought that it will for good.

But not, this morning experienced another diarrhea attack. Another stomach pain. And I went to the restroom 2 times yet the pain did not subside. So, I took an anti-diarrhea medicine and took some rest.

  1. My brother nearly died of a stroke caused by gall bladder complications last fall. Any surgery is dangerous but I also think the world class Houston hospital also screwed up letting him lose 5 pints of blood overnight before catching the bleeding then blood thickeners applied caused a clotting problem, thus the stroke. He was lucky to be in the hospital but still can’t talk very well.

When I broke my arm in London last year got immediate treatment and drugs, all free without even asking to see my passport. Since returning home have had $60,000 worth of bills, not all covered by Medicare or Aetna, so shelling out too. Funny as I travel the world don’t hear Europeans or Canadians complain about their healthcare.

  2. i’ve had my gallbladder taking out 3 years ago I cry almost ever day since since im scared to go out to eat since i have diarrhea every day some times more than 5 times a day i starve myself when i go to my college classes since i dont use public restrooms if i do eat between classes i have a piece of bread since thats the only thing that doesnt make me sick. I’m trying to loose weight but nothing i do seems to work.

    • This means you gain weight after your gallbladder surgery?

At first, I lost weight. But now my weight is the same before the operation.
